I know, I know, everyone's tired of hearing how great the Philadelphia Flyers are playing right now. Not me, I'm drunk with pure unadulterated, joy, and a few Michelobs™! No team has scored a goal against the Broad Street Bullies since Boston scored their third goal of game 7, last series.
EPIC comeback, pure dominance since then. 13 unanswered goals over three games, two shut outs. 165 minutes; 50 seconds since a goal has been scored against my 'boys. Congrats to Michael Leighton (our goalie), outstanding concentration, great positioning, solid goaltending. Three stars!
This is special, sports records lots of stats, the Philadelphia Flyers are rewriting some of those statistics with this playoff run. Win or lose, this is special. I certainly don't expect a cakewalk this round against a resilient Montreal squad, they can embarrass any team in a heartbeat, I'm not taking them lightly.
Follow me beyond expectations...
The last Philadelphia Flyer goalie to record 2 consecutive playoff shutouts: Bernie Parent in 1975 (the last Flyers Stanley Cup winner). I'm psyched! Only the third team in N.H.L. history to fight back from a 3 - 0 series deficit, the ONLY team to claw back from a 3 - 0 game 7 deficit. Statistics are not on our side, but the Flyers have managed to win the first two games of the Conference Finals by a combined 9 - 0.
Impressive, shocking, unbelievable, and oh so much fun to watch! What a distraction from my hum-drum life. My younger nephew had shoulder reconstructive surgery last week, and I visited him today. We talked hockey, it's taking his mind off of his misery, how cool is that? He's actually excited about something and not concentrating on his pain. Our team delivered him a much needed dose of fun tonight.
I love life, who cares who wins an election, a hockey team cheered up a family member who is having a tough time. That matters more to me right this minute than any election. By the way, I voted in the PA election today, and the only thing I care about tonight is that my nephew feels better. I did my part, I voted, I visited an ailing family member, I cheered my favorite team on to victory.
Today was a great day!
